hoodie pattern on the way!

Testing is DONE! Editing is beginning!
I designed this sweater at the beginning of this year, for the Needful Yarns Inc. knitting and crochet pattern contest. I wasn't one of the finalists, but I am glad I was given the motivation! My friend Amber wanted a long hooded sweater for her daughter, and we came up with the design together. It is my very favorite of all my crochet designs, and I am so thrilled to be *this much* closer to getting this pattern published. I have finished testing the pattern, it's all written out in notebook form.... now I just need to type it out and make it all pretty. So, if you're waiting for the hoodie pattern, keep an eye out! It'll be coming sooner than later ;)

greeting cards

I love greeting cards. I've always saved cards that were given to me by friends family members. I'm sure most of them are long gone, but I've always saved them. I used to shop for hours in the Hallmark section of the book store before they turned it into a Planet Fitness. (I should probably still spend a few hours there...) I never really put any thought into my love for greeting cards until recently. I think it may have been sparked by this card, given to me by my dear friend Cate for my birthday a few years ago:

Is that not hilarious? Inside it says "Get down with your bad self.... and have a happy birthday". I think it's just great.

I have this one near my desk:

it's pretty and inspirational.... and it matches the color of my wall beautifully

I just purchased this one made by brezomayo and I can't wait for it to get here!

I'm not sure if I'll be able to part with it, but you never know.

happy birthday, pretend husband :)

It is Frankie's birthday today. I love him, he's awesome. He brings me coffee :)
He is 30. Again. This is the fourth time he has turned 30. He has committed himself to the idea that he will be 30 until he is 40. Who am I to tell him different - he brings me coffee, he's awesome.
I gave him his ninja tee last night - I think he'll actually wear it. Yay! I cleaned his office for him today, hopefully he'll be able to come home and relax. It's Tuesday, there'll be a new General Hospital on the DVR and it's not terribly hot outside. It looks good.

two little birdies

I love the Flea Market Fancy fabrics! This auction is for the crochet apron-jumper ONLY. I used a variety of yarns, and they match the fabrics beautifully! This jumper will be custom made for your little one in size 12 months to size 6. Buttons may vary a bit.The gorgeous peasant top and ruffled jeans are not made by me and they are not included. It is a gorgeous design by cherrytea!

fun stuff...

Yesterday was a fun day. My friend April and her pretend husband invited us over for a cookout. It is great when your pretend husband gets along so well with your friend's pretend husband :) And I even remembered my camera.
sometimes it's fun to see how close you can get to the camera :)

Most of the pictures River let me take were of her tongue... she was kind enough to let me snap a decent one - only one.

Stone spent a good amount of time running from the camera, but I did manage to catch him once or twice.
I took quite a few pictures of little Autumn chewing on her spoon - cute little stinka stinka :)

We need to get out more often :)

the ninjas have been deployed...

this tee from kiwicuties is so awesome. I bought it for Frankie (pretend hubby) for his birthday this week. It should arrive any day and I can't wait. Frankie collects a lot of things, and a good chunk of these things tend to fall under the category of "ninja". So - I highly recommend you check out kiwicuties on etsy for a number of cute tees, jewelry, art and generally cool things :)

Teamwork...

Meet Daisy. She's small and she's cute. So was her collar. We (myself, the kids mostly) were in awe of the cuteness of such a small collar - that would be a better fit for our cats - going around the neck of a dog.

This morning, the cute collar - and little pink leash that was attached - are in pieces on the floor. No, Miss Daisy isn't the culprit. That would be a larger set of jaws.

Meet Ava. She's cute, but not so small. Ava is two years old, and we are continuously surprised by how well behaved she is for a puppy school dropout. She even stopped chewing up collars and leashes and dog beds.

That is, until Daisy came home to stay.

Ava loves Daisy. Daisy loves Ava. They cuddle and play. They also team up to chew on collars and leashes and dog beds.

listed this, too :)

nite :)
I've spent the past ten minutes looking at a blank screen. How does one decide what to blog about on one's first attempt? I've decided I'm going to try the "jump in with both feet, blindly" method. Here goes!

So I've been having way too much fun with the decoupage/mosaic recycled jeans. I took enough sewing lessons that I can stitch fabric securely to a pair of jeans ;) They are a blast to make, and since I can't actually make an entire garment (or don't have the patience to sit and give a try) this is the perfect way to quiet that nagging little voice that says "you MUST buy fabric!" For a few minutes at a time, anyway.

My point? I listed these kickass jeans today :) My new favorite. Made with seriously cool Michael Miller fabrics. They're a size 6 (tcp)

and you can find them here:

There - first post done. That wasn't so bad. Now I should probably get some housework done. After all, I did send Frankie to the yarn store, it's only fair...
